What is the Target Car Seat Trade In Event?
So what even is the Target Car Seat Trade In Event?
It’s where parents can bring in an old or expired car seat to Target, and Target will recycle it for you and give you a great deal on a new car seat (or other baby item!).
In exchange for dropping off your car seat to be recycled you get a 20% off coupon for a new car seat, stroller, car seat base, travel system, or other select baby items (like playards, high chairs, swings, rockers, bouncers, walkers, entertainers and jumpers).
Target has been doing the car seat even since April 2016 and it’s a huge hit with parents.
When is the Target Car Seat Trade In Event Happening?
This year the Target Car Seat Trade In Event starts on Sunday, April 16th and goes through Saturday, April 29, 2023.
These events usually take place once in the spring and once in the fall. So plan accordingly if you need, or want, a new car seat soon!
How Does The Target Car Seat Trade In Event Work?
Note: You must be enrolled in Target Circle to participate in the trade-in event. However, it’s free and easy to sign up (see below for more details on how to sign up).
- Target will recycle all types of car seats even if they’re damaged or expired (infant, booster seats, convertible, etc.)
- Find a participating Target store, and bring your used car seat to the designated drop-box (usually right inside the store!) at any time during the trade in event.
- Simply drop your car seat in the designated box and use your cell phone to scan the sign on the box (this is how you’ll receive your 20% off coupon).
- When you scan the sign, you’ll get one coupon added to your Target Circle account. Even though it’s one coupon, it is redeemable twice through Saturday, May 13th. Yay!
- You can use the coupon in store or online.
- Once you’re ready to use the coupon, go to your Wallet in the Target App or, if shopping online, visit Target.com/circle.
Remember, the coupon doesn’t have to go just towards a new car seat. But can be used for car seats, a car seat base, travel system, stroller, or select baby gear (like playards, high chairs, swings, rockers, and bouncers).
Top Tips for the Target Car Seat Trade In Event
Shopping the Target Car Seat Trade In Event is super easy; but there are some tips that might help you have even better success!
- Shop Early – Popular car seats or strollers may go out of stock during this event, so if you have your eye set on a particular car seat, be sure you use your coupon as soon as you can!
- Keep Checking the Stock – If Target is showing it’s out of stock for your favorite car seat, click the “notify me when back in stock” button, or keep checking in store and online. They have been known to restock some of these items before the sale is over!
- Take Advantage of Sale Items & Your REDcard – Coupons can’t be stacked on top of each other, but they can be combined with most other offers.
- Use your REDcard to save an additional 5% and get free shipping on your online purchase.
- If your car seat is already on sale, you get to use the 20% on top of that! (Check out Target’s current Baby Deals)
- Unfortunately, you won’t be able to use your 15% registry completion discount in combination of this sale.
- If you don’t have a car seat to trade-in, you may be able to find a FREE used car seat through Facebook Marketplace or other friends and family looking to get rid of one.
